The Only Guide to Essay Writing You’ll Ever Know

    WashimBy Washim09/14/2023No Comments4 Mins Read

An essay is used in academic institutions to test your understanding of a subject and your ability to use critical thinking to answer questions effectively. That being said, knowledge of a subject is the easy part. But when it comes to writing the essay, do you find yourself struggling?

If you answered yes, we have an article that will guide you to becoming a master essay writer.

And these tips are proven to work and are used by experts all over. You can check with https://paperwritten.com, and you will find excellent essays following the tips we will give you.

    Let’s start.

First, we begin by telling you that there are three stages to the essay writing process.

    1. Preparation stage,
    2. Writing stage, and
    3. Revision stage
    • The Preparation Stage

Starting an essay without any prior planning is a mistake. A costly one. Before you start writing you must have a clear idea of what is expected of you. Follow the steps below as part of your preparation stage:

    • Understand your assignment: What does the assignment want? Is it an expository essay or an argumentative one? What is going to be the preferred length? What is the deadline? Is it group or individual work? This is where you read the instructions given. And in case something is not clear ask your instructor.
    • Define the topic: If you are asked to pick your own topic, pick one that you are familiar with and are interested in. Avoid topics that will also take too much time to research.
    • Do your research: After defining your topic, get set to read primary and secondary sources. Be keen to take notes of major points that you will use in your essay. A good tip is to note the sources you will be using in the essay so that you know what you will be using as evidence.
    • Create your thesis: The thesis is the main idea of the essay. It will guide you on what arguments you will be using. Try not to stray away from your topic as you create your thesis.
    • Create a rough draft: Get together an outline that will help you find the holes in your research and arguments.

After this, you are ready to start writing.

    • The Writing Stage

    • Structure your paper: Here you need to start your essay with a strong introduction that hooks the reader. Just because it’s an essay doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Your instructor may fail to read it. Introduce your argument and show your thesis here.

Next, you start on the body of your essay. Here you introduce your idea together with the evidence that supports it. Be careful to write using good sentences and paragraph structure. The body is about 60-80% of the full paper. Always remember to base your argument on credible sources.

Finally, you have your conclusion. This part is minimal, about 15 % of the paper. You just need to tie together your argument and point back to your thesis.

What you don’t need to do is introduce other arguments. Neither do you want to undermine your argument by saying something like, ‘One of many’. Also avoid using the words, ‘In conclusion’.

    • During the writing stage, select a tone and style and stick with it to the end. We suggest you keep to academic tones and style.
    • As you must have used outside resources, you will need to cite them according to the format you have been told to use.
    • The Revision Stage

If you thought you were done with your paper, you were wrong. The revision stage needs attention to detail and keenness. We suggest you write your paper early enough so that you have time to look it through. So before you hand it in, do the following:

    • Evaluate your paper and ensure the structure is what it should be. If not make the necessary corrections.
    • Revise each paragraph and its content. Does it flow? Does each paragraph contribute to your argument?
    • Next, you proofread your essay, checking for grammatical errors. If you are not sure about whether you can catch errors on your own, use a grammar checker.
    • Use a plagiarism checker. You used sources from outside, so some words may not be your own. This may be considered plagiarism which can lead to your paper failing or being declined.

    Final Thoughts

And we are done. We have fulfilled what we set out to do and we know these tips will be helpful. You will not have a major problem writing essays after this guide.
